Hello,

a bit about me:

My name is Kaitlyn Quirke and I am currently working towards a Bachelor's of Science degree in Marine Biology at the University of Rhode Island. I am originally from a small town in Connecticut and I have always known I wanted to pursue a career in marine biology. During my time at URI, I participated in a research project studying the behavior and facial expressions of beluga whales. This project helped me focus my passion on marine mammal biology and conservation. In order to pursue this passion further, I participated in a semester-long internship with the Navy Marine Mammal Program. From this experience, I have gained incredible knowledge and insight into the field of marine mammal training, medicine, and care. Here I share my experience in this internship and how it has helped shaped me as a professional in the field of marine mammal biology.
